The quality and strength of Mountain Prince’s “stamp” on his progeny is being carried through to the next generation, with such horses as Tynedale Riverdance (out of our own foundation broodmare “Mountain Dew”) winning championships at numerous county and national shows before being exported to the USA.

Sadly, Mountain Prince is now deceased, but his influence on the breed is being maintained at Regalia Irish Draughts where the largest concentration of his progeny can be found, and where the intention in the future is to “line breed” back to this great stallion, and to use only the best, rare ID outcrosses in between.

Mountain Prince stood for most of his life with Dr Karen Hinckley at Amber House in Derbyshire. Dr Hinckley will need no introduction to fans of the ID breed, being the foremost and best breeder of Irish Draughts in the world, owning at least 10% of the national herd. Her work in Equine Genetics is well respected through the scientific and equine world alike, and most of the Irish Draughts alive in the world today, especially those of the rare bloodlines that might otherwise have been lost completely, owe at least part, if not all, of their existence to her.
